Fine arts Reid Memorial Presbyterian ChurchReid Arts

The doctrine of creation, if it is to be believed and enacted, puts the church at the forefront of artistic activity. The ministry of music at Reid Memorial Presbyterian Church embraces this notion, and strives to draw worshippers closer to God by creating works of beauty that offer an earthly reflection of God’s heavenly kingdom. This philosophy is not limited to worship services alone: we believe public performances of fine music are an important part of our ministry to the Augusta community.

Reid Arts is a series of concerts, recitals, and other performances offered to the public as a means of outreach. The series features musicians from across the region.

STEEL PRAISIN’ IN CONCERT – Saturday, Sept. 22, 7:30 p.m., Reid Memorial sanctuary

Mark your calendars now for the Saturday, Sept. 22, performance by Steel Praisin’, the steel-drum band from Winston-Salem. The group was originally scheduled to perform earlier this year; however, they had to postpone the concert until the fall. Led by professional percussionist Tom Peterson, Steel Praisin’ is an outreach ministry of Friedberg Moravian Church and has built a large following in the Piedmont Triad of North Carolina over the past several years.

This concert is the first in the 2012-13 Reid Arts series. A workshop for beginning pan drumming will be held earlier in the afternoon. The concert is free and open to the public. Bring a friend and enjoy the music of the islands, as well as a few of your favorite hymns and songs.

This event is sponsored by the Reid Memorial Presbyterian Church Ministry of Music.
